Your brakes are the one part you can't guess on.

E-bikes and scooters are heavier and faster than regular bikes, so they eat brake pads and rotors faster too. This session is all brakes. Chalie will have real brake parts on the table, from worn pads to new ones and from mechanical to hydraulic, so you can see and feel the difference.

What we'll cover
  • Brake types: mechanical disc, hydraulic disc, and rim brakes, and what's on your ride
  • Matching parts: how to match pads to your caliper, rotor sizes (160 / 180 / 203mm), 2-piston vs 4-piston, and mount adapters
  • Reading wear: how to tell when pads are done and when a rotor is warped or too thin
  • Hydraulic basics: mineral oil vs. DOT fluid, and why you never mix them
  • E-bike specifics: brake levers with motor cut-off switches and what happens when they fail
  • Safe vs. shop: what you can check and adjust yourself, and when to stop riding and bring it in

Bring your questions. We'll go wherever the conversation goes. If you know your bike or scooter model, put it on the form so Chalie can bring matching examples.
